Dr. Makhamisa Senekane is assigned with power engineering, telecommunications, and computing assignments at Avalanche Consulting. He is currently a lecturer of Electronics and Physics in the Department of Physics and Electronics at the National University of Lesotho (NUL) where he teaches Electronics, Measurement and Instrumentation, and Very Large-Scale Integration (VLSI) Design. His research interests include power engineering, renewable energy, data science, data privacy, caber-security, machine learning, technology for development, digital design and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Prior to joining NUL, Dr. Senekane worked as a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Information and Communications Technology at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT) – Lesotho Campus, where he taught Introduction to Computing, Web Design and Development, Computer Networks Security, and Artificial Intelligence. He also served as the member of the Faculty Management team. Prior to that he was a lecturer in the Faculty of Computing at Botho University – Maseru Campus, where he taught Introduction to Computing, Computer Architecture, and Operating Systems.
Dr. Senekane also has a wealth of industry experience. He worked as a Radio Access Networks Engineer at Vodacom Lesotho, following an engineering internship at the same company. During this role, he was responsible for installation, monitoring, maintenance and calibration of access network equipment. As an intern at the Government of Lesotho’s Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology, Dr Senekane was responsible for both signal transmission and repairing of the equipment used for radio signal transmission. At a different internship at Econet Telecom Lesotho, he was responsible for data collection and analysis at the company’s Earth Station. He was also on placement at Lesotho Electricity Company, where he worked primarily in the maintenance of the power stations.
Dr. Senekane holds Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics from the National University of Lesotho, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cape Town, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He is a life-time member of Golden Key International Society, a Professional Physicist (SAIP), and a founding member of Lesotho Young Academy of Science.
