Sello Rapolaki
Design and Architecture
Mr. Sello Rapolaki is charged with the responsibility of leading the Design and Architecture function of Avalanche Consulting. He leads project designs, reviews and construction supervision for various Avalanche’s assignments. He also identifies and mobilizes architectural teams from around the world to bid for and tackle different projects. Mr. Rapolaki has over 10 years’ experience in all stages of project delivery. He has worked on various major public and private sector projects in the United States and in Canada. He has strong background in architectural design and review, project management and construction supervision of commercial office projects, correctional services facilities, low income and mid to high-end residential projects and mixed-use developments including renovations, adaptive reuse and new construction. He has provided oversight on architectural teams’ initial reviews to ensure compliance with clients’ briefs, liaising and coordinating with local authorities, the production of design concept, construction documents as well as tender package and permit documentation.
Mr. Rapolaki has keen interest in new building technologies and system performance. This has been instrumental in the design of the New Mines Geo-Science Laboratory in Maseru. This project is one of the first Lesotho projects aimed at meeting various Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) minimum requirements in various categories.
Mr. Rapolaki is a founding member and Chairperson of the Architectural Association of Lesotho (AAL) where he has been an active coordinator since its establishment in 2017. Rapolaki is the youngest Project Architect (PA) in Lesotho to ever successfully complete a project of a magnitude over M100 million in the past 5 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the Catholic University of America (CUA) in Washington DC.
